Event Date

Location

Talk with Professor Christine Borgman from UCLA and Ms. Joy Bonaguro, Chief Data Officer for the State of California.

In today's data-driven world, organizations face the challenge of not only capturing and exploiting data but also maintaining it for reuse. Capturing and exploiting data is difficult; maintaining data so that they can be mined, combined, and reused is a far greater challenge. Dr. Christine L. Borgman will share research with astronomers, environmental scientists, university administrators, and other communities to offer examples of how to address these challenges. Ms. Joy Bonaguro will discuss California's statewide data strategy and how large organizations can boost their data competencies. She will provide examples of how this work is streamlining processes, providing better services to the public, and mitigating data risk. Together, these scholars will share two unique perspectives on how organizations can use data effectively.
