This talk will highlight key policy changes under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) that have the potential to improve adolescent and young adult health. It examines how the ACA has changed their access and utilization of health services and highlights significant challenges that need to be addressed in order to advance the health of this special population.
Kathleen Tebb, PhD is an Associate Professor at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), in the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine. She is a developmental and health research psychologist whose work focuses on understanding the factors that influence adolescent and young adult sexual and reproductive health. Over the past 15 years, she has developed and evaluated a number of interventions to promote adolescent sexual and reproductive health with special attention to promoting health among racially/ethnically and economically diverse populations. She has also investigated the implementation health policy and practices, including the impact of health care reform on adolescents and young adults’ access and utilization of preventive and sensitive health services. Dr. Tebb chairs the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine’s Sexual Health Committee.
