2010 Election Post Mortem: The Initiatives

Kaufman and Meyers from 2010 Election Post-Mortem

The Center and Capitol Weekly brought political experts together to offer an audience of Capitol insiders insights on the 2010 statewide election.

For political junkies, an election is like a Wii game on steroids. They don’t want the fun to stop. To feed that addiction, the University of California Center Sacramento (UCCS) and Capitol Weekly newspaper sponsored a lively forum to dissect the November general election. The event, held at the Crest Theater in downtown Sacramento, took place only two days after the November 2 election. A crowd of 250 heard two morning panels dive into the gubernatorial contest and various initiative campaigns, while a noon session focused on the transition from the Schwarzenegger team to the administration of Governor-elect Jerry Brown. Experts recruited for the panels included UC Center Director and UC Davis political science professor Robert Huckfeldt, former state Senator Jim Brulte, Los Angeles Times columnist George Skelton, Schwarzenegger Chief of Staff Susan Kennedy, Capitol Weekly editor Anthony York, former Schwarzenegger communications director Adam Mendelsohn, political consultant Gale Kaufman, National Public Radio reporter John Myers and UC Center Associate Director A.G. Block.
