"Capitalizing Environmental Justice in the
Sacramento Region”

Jonathan London
Associate Professor of Human Ecology
Director of Center for Regional Change
University of California, Davis

“Capitalizing Environmental Justice in the Sacramento Region" is the first study to assess the dire conditions of environmental injustice confronting low-income communities and communities of color in California's Capital Region. The report uses a wide range of environmental justice maps and data to identify the issues, populations, and places that require collaborative action to address.  The report also profiles inspiring success stories by community organizations to improve health and well-being in the region. This report is rooted in a long-time collaboration between the CRC and the Coalition on Regional Equity (CORE), and several of CORE's primary organizational members.

Jonathan K. London received his Ph.D. in Environmental Science Policy and Management from UC Berkeley in 2001. His research addresses conflicts and collaboration in natural resource and environmental issues, specifically environmental justice in disadvantaged communities. London is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Ecology also directs the UC Davis Center for Regional Change, which serves as a catalyst for multi-disciplinary and policy-relevant research that informs efforts to build healthy, prosperous, equitable, and sustainable regions.
