Statement by UC Davis Chancellor May on Sacramento Shootings

Dear Friends of UC Center Sacramento,

We woke up to news this morning of the shooting tragedy that occurred outside of our Center doors in downtown Sacramento.  Our hearts are broken for the victims as well as their families.  Upon news of the mass shooting, we immediately reached out to all of our UCCS students and have accounted for all of our students and their safety.  We want to share UC Davis Chancellor May’s statement on today’s tragic event and are working with UC Davis on offering on-site counseling and mental health services to our Spring cohort this week.  We appreciate those of you who reached out throughout the day today to check on UCCS and our students.

Today’s horrific shootings in downtown Sacramento are shocking and deeply distressing. Our hearts break for those who lost a loved one and for all our colleagues, friends and neighbors who are suffering today.
