Ayana Galace

STUDENT: Ayana Galace
CAMPUS: UC San Diego
INTERNSHIP: Office of Assemblymember Rob Bonta & the Asian Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus
INTERNSHIP HIGHLIGHT: "Interning with the APILC has taught me more about the issues facing our diverse community and has given me access to so many resources to become a better advocate for AA & NHPI communities. My second year of college, I wrote UC Santa Cruz's Pilipinx Cultural Celebration, which told the story of Filipino civil rights leaders in during the Delano Grape Strikes and the need for expanded ethnic studies programs, so it has been incredibly inspiring to intern for Asm. Bonta, whose mother was not only integral to the movement, but who is a champion for ethnic studies, and California's first Filipino-American legislator."
FUN FACT: "I'm currently working on a website where women of color can share their art, culture, and resources for advocacy and leadership development! Check it out at @brownbaesunite on IG."
CAREER GOALS: "My immediate career goal is to find a job that pays enough to for me to have an in-unit washer and dryer, but my dream is to be able to advocate for communities of color and historically marginalized groups through policy work and comedy. (And yes, Mom, I promise I'll take the LSAT!)"
